Richard Thomas G4JJP - Chairman
Richard is a recently retired professional yacht skipper, and has been a radio amateur since 1979. His family home is based in Shepton where he runs an Icom 7200, but he spends a large part of the year overseas. After seven years living in Bangkok, he also holds the Thai callsign HS0ZLY. His most effective call was a Mayday Piracy made whilst successfully resisting a piracy attempt in the South China Sea in 2018.
David Edwards G8BFV - Club Secretary
David has been licensed as G8BFV since 1969 just when the G8s were allowed on 2 metres. David has a BSc in Computer Science and has worked first as a Software Engineer with Marconi Radar, then a Systems Engineer since the mid 1970s. He is now retired after a long career including several years at the now defunct Thales Wells site. His main interests are VHF, UHF and Microwaves, with occasional HF operation particularly for special events.
Chris Lavis G6HIQ - Treasurer
Chris spent most of his working life employed by Clarks the shoemakers as a management accountant mainly in the manufacturing division, until Clarks ceased manufacturing in the UK. He became interested in amateur radio in his early teens as a result of hearing the late G3AWZ (who lived nearby) on an old home radio. As a result he became interested as a SWL. He got the bug again much later in life as a result of the influx of CB radio in the late 70s and early 80s. He then studied and sat the RAE passing it in late 1981, getting his current call sign G6HIQ.
